Growing up in a small fishing village having buoys scattered about everywhere was not an unusual occurrence nor one I thought was anything special.
It wasn't until I moved away from the ocean for a period of time that I understood the symbolism of the buoy....fresh air, salt water, fresh fish and freedom! In fact I found myself photographing them whenever I came across a bunch somewhere.
When my Fisherman neighbour asked if I would have any use for a bunch of hand whittled mini Buoys, of course I said YES! So they've been tucked away until recently. Hope you enjoy their transformation.
Supplies used: Wooden Mini Buoys; "Maritime" Mini Ephemera (7-Gypsies); "Maritime" Variety Pack (7-Gypsies); Tombow Multi Liquid Glue; Distress Inks (Vintage Photo's, Tattered Rose & Weathered Wood); "Abominable Snowman" (Tattered Angels Glimmer spray)' Natural Twine and Metal Embellishments.
I absolutely love these! I also grew up in a small fishing community, as you said buoys were everywhere! Mind you back then, who would have thought that I would see something so sweet on your page!
