Magenta Styles have wonderful rubber stamps to work with.

When I needed to create a card for a special friend, I knew exactly where to look.

This card was created using the Papyrus  and the Sunflower

Winter Night

Who can't help but create around the theme of winter when the entire province is slammed with many, many snow storms!

Even in everything that is ugly, there is beauty.

A friend posted this photo of a sunset a few nights ago, and I replicated it using alcohol inks, UTEE and Magenta Stamps

From plain to WOW!

I must admit, this was the easiest project ever! Tattered Angel Paint Systems are fabulous.

This project was actually used by pulling 2 products from a Christmas paint system.

Gather supplies, chipboard cut-outs (I made mine by using Tim Holtz Apothecary Bottle Sizzix Die), Red High Impact Paint and Leap Frog Glimmer Mist from the "Jolly" kit and a brush

Coat each piece with Gesso and allow to dry (takes only a few minutes)

Apply a generous coat of Red High Impact Paint. Now this is where I lacked patiences for drying and dried with a heat gun. It was to my benefit though as the intense heat caused the paint to bubble which added awesome texture and made the bottle look even more authentic in the end! Lesson: DON'T BE AFRAID TO TRY NEW THINGS!

Next you apply a generous spray of the Leap Frog Glimmer Mist. This time I did sit back for about 5 minutes to allow the mist to seep into the cracks. I then gently tapped the excess off using a paper towel but I did leave pools of the mist on the areas where I wanted the most color.

Once dry I added the words and numbers using Modelling paste and Tim Holtz Halloween stencils. Once that dried I used a little Vintage Photo distress ink to the words/numbers and edges.

Finish product used on a recent scrapbook page.

Tattered Angels have a vast variety of paints, mists and so much more! I can't wait to use this realistic like look on so many more projects like butterfly's, random words, keys, clocks, etc!

Say YES to the Dress!

One of my fondest memories of Abbigail's Senior year is going prom dress shopping with her.

Of course I thought she looked absolutely beautiful in every dress she tried on but the look on her face with "the" one, tells the tale.

When I attended Crop and Create at Moncton a few weeks ago our attendee's package included a variety of papers and embellishments from several companies. It was from this stack that I chose the products to create this double page layout.

I used products from the following companies: Dear Lizzy, Basic Grey, BoBunny, Bazzill, Heidi Swapp, American Crafts, Ranger and MME

I did create the tags using many, many Ranger products so I could have matching backgrounds for each dress. The techniques used on these were taught by Vicki Boutin at a class I took at Crop & Create.

Here are a few extra photo's

Bouquets

I like variety, especially in crafting!

For me it's easy to distress and ink everything. What's not easy is a clean and soft look

Using Magenta stamps and Water colour markers these are a few samples I came up with.

Sketchabilities #136

Participating in Blog challenges has been something I've been wanting to do. I'm hoping to submit to at least 1 scrapbook and 1 card challenge per month.

Not only does it feel good to share your own work with people who appreciate the art we do, but I really feel it supports those in the industry that are trying to keep it alive and thriving.

 My take

"Nothing Better"

This photo was taken when Dads Nephew, wife (in photo) and their 2 friends drove their motorbikes across Canada (from Manitoba) to visit. This was after our walk on Little Dover's fabulous boardwalk

Joy, Angela, Dad & Me

Supplies Used: This was another fabulous kit purchased at My Stamping Studio

  • Fancy Pants "Melogy"

  • Melogy- Large Decorative Tags

  • Melogy- Library Cards

  • Melogy- "Nothing Better" wooden Tag

  • Melogy- Flair Buttons

  • Tim Holtz Courtyard Die

  • Archival Ink - Watering Can

  • Texture Paste, Alcohol Ink, Stencil

  • Blue WOW embossing powder

  • Sewing

  • Background Stamp

To change the colour of Texture Paste I find using alcohol INk the best way. Since the Alcohol evaporates only leaving the dye behind your paste is not watered down like it would be if you use a water based ink such as re-inkers of distress ink.

One of my "Life" Teachers

A few years back I met a lady who would soon become my friend. It took a very short time for me to understand how lucky I was to have meet her and how much she could teach me about being a great human being.

Unfortunately our friendship was cut short and I was not able to tell her exactly the deep impact our union had meant to me, even though it was for only a short time. An inside joke that only a few are privy of Pat sure did love her fur coat :)

This page is dedicated to my dear friend Pat Skinner. Thank you for the time we did have and the many, many laughs we shared!

Supplies used:
  • Kaiser Craft "Enchanted Gardens" Paper Line

  • MME Now & Then Alpha Words

  • Bo Bunny Vintage Dot "Turquoise"

  • Hero Arts Pearls & Gems "Sunshine Mixed Accents"

  • Distress Ink Vintage Photo

  • Archival Ink Black

  • BackGround Stamps, Manufacturer unknown

LOVE the Maritimes!

This scene can be found on any shore in our Atlantic Provinces. This scene was photographed by my great friend Michelle Mattie on a trip to PEI, the only place I know of where there's red sand.

Used Prima Paper packed and Chipboard embellishments, accented with corrugated cardboard, sewing, boarder punch, Tim Holtz die cut words and Glossy accents.

Kindred Spirits {Inside & Out}

Cavendish Country Music Festival in PEI has been a regular summer vaca for several years and each time we have stayed at Kindred Spirits.

This beautiful, authentic B & B is a 5+star (in my opinion) The spick and span, eat off the floor rooms, each with their own private bathroom and that home made breakfast buffet every morning, OMG x 3!! Highly recommended.

With something this great it deserved it's own feature. Using Bo-Bunny "The Avenues" here at the double page lay-outs done to remember my days/nights at Kindred Spirits.
