Since closing my store, I've teamed up with a partner in crime sort-of-speak, and we have made a promise to each other to try as many crops as we can. Going to places that are not familiar to experience others peoples take on what makes a great crop weekend.
The below comments are my own personal thoughts, feelings and opinions which I will share with you. I plan on doing a little summary of all events I go to in the future :)
My Stamping Studio is a sweet, fresh, bright, product packed paper crafting store in Windsor, Nova Scotia.
It truly is haven for anyone looking for papercrafting items.
Three times a year (Jan- May- Oct) Kelly hosts a scrapbooking retreat for Saturday/Sunday at the Super 8 hotel in Windsor. This past May my partner in crime and I {as well as another great friend from NB} took in this crop.
Registration was: $205.85 (this included the tax) based on a double occupancy at hotel.
What did we get for this price:
- Saturday Nights Hotel fee (if you stay Friday night you will pay for that yourself)
- Lunch both Saturday
- A candy bar to die for Saturday Night
- 1/2 of a 7ft table to crop on
- Surprises all weekend long of free products & give-a-ways
- Demo's
What I Loved about this weekend:
- The Super 8 is a beautiful hotel. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. You have complimentary breakfast each morning and unlimited tea/coffee all day long. They also have a pool if that interests you.
- The Lunches provided by Kelly were excellent! On Saturday we had pizza/Soda/Dessert & Sunday we had Build your own cold cut sandwich/Salad/Dessert/Soda. Walked away stuffed and completely satisfied both days!!
- Candy bar was so pretty and yummy!
- The give-a-ways Kelly did were beyond any other crops! We received stamps, complete paper packs, embellishments, etc. (See photo) I estimate at least $100 worth of products!
- How accommodating Kelly was with shopping at the store, staying as late as we wanted to Saturday night, Setting up Friday night.
- How friendly the crowd was and how easy it was to get to know other croppers
- Enough room around each table to move around easily and to set up a small table (the size of a TV tray)
- Very comfortable chairs.
- The store supplies the Cricut and a Big Shot for your usage.
- Chance to win a draw for a shopping spree through ticket purchase.
- Location very handy to eateries and coffee/tea houses :)
- No classes were offered which was fine with me as I like doing my own thing at these events.
What I didn't like as much:
- No store on site. With this being said I completely understand why. My Stamping Studio is only 2 mins from the hotel and was available all day Saturday, as well Kelly opened for a "private" shopping spree Saturday evening to those who wanted to go. Kelly did have 3 tables worth of products to shop from at the crop all weekend. On a positive note, it made me be super organized going to the crop which ended up being very productive!!
- The limited space at the table. Again I completely understand as organizing a crop is a HUGE undertaking and with the limited space at the hotel, in order to accommodate 50 people this is the only option. It took me to mid-day Saturday to get a "flow" going and once I did that I was fine with the space I had. Plus you can bring a little side table if you like.
- Crop does not include Friday Night (Goes from 9am Sat-whenever Sat Night and Sunday is from 8am-5pm)
The Verdict:
Would I attend again? ABSOLUTELY! I feel the positives out weighs the negatives big time. I can't wait for the next round!! Bring it on :)
Next adventure is the Gadget Girls Fall Crop 2015!
