Chasing Dreams

Lat year I was very fortunate to be able to participate in Crop & Create Cornwall. One of the classes I took was given by Virginia Nebel. Her designs are beautiful and full of goodness.

These classes are very full and not often am I able to complete the projects there. So today I pulled these layouts out to complete and am very pleased with how they turned out!

I did stitching on mine as well as used more of the embellishments for layering. Hope you like!

Paper line: Chasing Dreams- Maggie holmes
Embellishments: all from the same line- Chasing Dreams: Puffy stickers, label Stickers and Chipboard stickers.

Layout one (Double Page)

{Sorry I noticed a piece of black thread on second page)

Lay-out two (Another double page)

There were so many embellishments left over I created 4 cards that I will share in a few days.

Christmas 2016

Never allow distance apart from keeping you close at heart

Christmas 2016 was challenging as Abby wasn't able to come home BUT with the lovely advances of technology we were able to spend Christmas morning together.

This lay-out was inspired from one I seen on pinterest from a site called designeddigitals.com. I loved the way a multiple of patterns from the collection could be drawn into the lay-out.

Paper: Fancy Pants- Merry & Bright Collection, including the empherma and buttons
Stamps: Penny Black- Script
             Tim Holtz-Doodle Greetings
             Tim Holtz- Etcetera
Dies: Tim Holtz - Tags
Spray: Heidi Swapp- Gold Color Spray
Other elements: White embossing powder and sewing

Stencil Duo featuring Altenew

A huge shout out to Altenew for creating these beautiful stencils that don't only work alone, but combined, they offer a spectacular look. Also to Jennifer McGuire who is my hero in card making and this is her design that I've mimicked.

I used Rangers Speciality Stamping paper which is something like photo paper but not the same. It is heavy weight, has a gloss on one side which makes blending inks very easy. It is also great for muting colors slightly because if you use a baby wipe to remove ink after it's been sitting for a bit, it lightens right up.

Here are the stencils with ink combo's I used. Time holtz distrrss Oxide inks
The layered Medallion A and B:
  • Twisted Citron & Abandoned Coral
  • Broken China & Peacock Feathers
  • Lucky Clover & Peeled Paint
  • Salty Ocean & Faded Jeans
  • Fired Brick & Candied Apple
The Layered Kaleidoscope A and B:
  • Wild Honey & Spiced Marmalade
  • Wilted Violet &Seedless Perserves
  • Worn Lipstick & Picked Raspberry
  • Antique Linen & Fossilized Amber

To jazz them up a tad I used Nuvo Drops, Sequins and a die cut stitched sun. I also cut the inked piece using a nesting die and cute the word "smile" from black cardstock to the top. The sun is popped up to offer some dimension.

Tartan Magic

What is it about tartan's that make us warm and content? Doesn't everyone wish they had a family tartan?

Well I don't have a Scottish heritage therefore no Tartan on my family tree so I had to do the next best thing and create some fun combinations of my own!

Concord & 9th have a wonderful creative team when it comes to stamps. They design them with alot of thought and precision.

All the below cards were made by this stamp.

I made 5 regular size cards (4.25 x 5.5) and 3 small 3.25 x 3.25 cards. Here are the colors I used.

Burgundy: Base was white card stock; Archival Ink Plum, the straight lines stamps in Archival Black and versa mark embossed in Copper and Wow Primary Bark.

Green: Base with white card stock; Olive Archival Ink; Lines Black Archival and versa mark embossed in Wow Earthtone Honey and Gold

Blue: Base with white card stock, Colbolt Archival Ink; lines Black Archival Ink and versa mark embossed with Wow Cable Car and Gold

Purple: Base purple card stock, Deep Purple Archival Ink, Lines Black Archival Ink and versa mark embossed with Wow Presidio Purple and Silver.

Other items used was a stitched heart die, Nestibility dies,  and sentiments (with the Hello die cut) from Hero Arts Hello set.

Enjoy and have a Plaid kinds week...warm and content :)

Background play!

Like everyone in this crafting hobby, I tend to "collect" items. I see someone in the industry using them and become inspired...go out and purchase and then, well it sits for a while, forgotten, in my stash.

This year, I made a crafting resolution to keep anything I purchase out on my table until I create with it.

This weekended I pulled out the following items:

  • Tim Holtz Distrss Oxide Inks
  • Altenew Layered Medallion Stencil A & B
  • Altenew Layered Kaleidoscope Stencil A & B
  • ConCord & 9th Plain stamp
These along with some older items from my stash I concentrated on making background prints. Take a look below!

Stay tuned as I will create some posts on how I utilised these backgrounds into completed cards as well as I will talk a little more about the individual items.

Celebrating "love" Day and Simon Says Stamp January Kit

As you see I place "" around the word Love as I feel Valentines Day is not just for those close intimate people in your life but for everyone you care about and really "love". You know those people that you would do anything for and mean the world to you.

With Simon Says January Card Kit, I was able to create these 10 cards that I think are adorable...if I do have to say so myself!

Below is a recap of the kit contents but if you would like to see the unwrapping of it in a video, please check it out in this previous post by clicking HERE

Link for Kit details HERE.

A group picture of all cards made. 10 in total...one missing from group photo but will be seen below. There are lots of layers on top of these cards that can't be seen through still photo, but not too much to cost over charge for mailing...happy balance :)

 Card 1

On this card I used the ink in the kit, the xoxo stamp which is a wonderful shimmer ink, the stitched heart stamp. fussy cut some of the roses and popped them up; cut a saying from the paper. from my own stash I used sequins, lace and vellum cut using a border punch.

Card 2

Using the heart stamp from kit I stamped around the edge; the white flower was actual paper from the November SSS kit that was left over so I fussy cut around and added;rest came from kit; added sequins from stash.

Card 3

This card I used an edge trimmer to round 2 of the corners, used the ink from kit as well as a stamp- trimmed using a die from stash; stamped the other hearts on vellum; added drops using nuvo drops and added lace from stash.

Card 4

Again using corner rounder, rounded two corners as well as the tag in center; the entire panel is popped up from card; stapled the saying "be mine" to tag; both front panels were die cut with dies from stash for that stitched look. Can't be seen here but I covered random hearts on the front panel with glossy accents for dimension and texture. Lips puffy sticker is part of the kit.

Card 5

This is one of my fav's as I love the colors. Very simple as added some vellum to the upper and lower dotted panel; cut the center tag with a die from stash; stamped and cut the words below to create the phase; puffy heart stickers from kit

Card 6

So rich with the dark colors! I used two elements from the SSS November kit- the silver paper and the white flower; Again I fussy cut the flower out and the silver I used a coordinating die from my stash to create the back drop for the stamped saying; stamp from kit. For the heart I used the stamp from the kit and stamped the back of a double sided sticker paper- I then fussy cut the heart out, stuck it to the front panel and added a generous amount of the glitter from kit to it. I barnished it and then wiped excess glitter off (this glitter is not for those who do not like glitter as it was everywhere :)
Each part was popped up for great dimension.

Card 7

The back panel of this card was first stamped with the words from the stamp set in the kit- most ended up being covered as I wasn't right sure where I was going with it; The hearts were created using the technique as described above; I used the large XOXO stamp in kit and ink, then used a die from my stash to trim the arrows. Puffy hearts from kit.

Card 8

The top mint panel was die cut from a die in my stash. This added a wonky stitch around the card; the rest was layering scraps from kit; stamped the large XOXO as well as the Kisses and hugs from the stamp kit. A tad of that left over silver added to edge.

Card 9

My scraps were getting low by this point so I did die cut a bit of that heart paper for the top and bottom of the panel..then layered.

Card 10 (missing card from group photo)

I "Really Like" this stamp! so often there are no other options then I love you with stamp sets that this one "I really Like You" is very refreshing! This last card was created by using the scraps left over...layering until happy with end results. The silver was die cut as was the sentiment from dies in stash. Even scrapped, ripped vellum was used here. Throw away nothing :)

I would like to share how the cards look on the inside and back. I won't show them all, just a few as they were all done the same way.

I don't include sentiments on the inside as I like to leave room for personalized messages but I do like to create a nice space for these messages

All of them have a back panel and then a die cut heart that has stitches around the edges.

The back of the card always has my hand made tag, but I did include a puffy sticker as I had enough left over from the lit to add. Each card either has a lip, a heart or a rainbow sticker.

This concludes this months SSS collection! Enjoy, all cards (includes the envelopes) are for sale if you are interested just message me :)

Heartfelt Hand Bag- The Winter look

Happy New Year everyone!

With these frigid temperatures and little bits of snowfall, I thought it was time to change up the look of my heartfelt handbag from the fall look to the winter look.

I can't say how much I enjoy this bag. The quality is none short of superb and it's very classy. For anyone who is interested in a bag I encourage you to either check out their website or call The Stamping Room in Canning Nova Scotia, as that is where I got mine. You'll also be in for a nice surprise as they are now going for a fraction of the price I paid!

Even if you don't have a Heartfelt bag, be inspired to add your own creative touches to personal objects to remind you of your happy place.
